Your pumpkin peel questions, answered 🎃

It's my first autumn offering the pumpkin peel, and I've been desperate to add it to the menu since finishing my level 5 qualification this year. Lots of you have been asking what it's actually like, so here's everything you need to know.

What is a pumpkin peel?

A pumpkin peel is a gentle peel made with real pumpkin. The pumpkin purée is naturally rich in fruit enzymes and fruit acids (AHAs), which work with a little citric acid to gently lift away the dead skin cells sitting on the surface, so the fresh, glowy skin underneath can shine through. It also has lovely soothing extras: aloe vera to calm your skin, niacinamide to help strengthen your skin barrier and even out your tone, and pumpkin seed oil to nourish your skin afterwards.

Why autumn is the best time for a peel

Peels leave your skin a little more sensitive to the sun for a while afterwards, so they're best done once the sun has calmed down. That makes autumn perfect. It's also the ideal time to treat any uneven tone or rough texture that summer has left behind, so your skin is fresh and bright in time for the party season.

Who is it good for?

The pumpkin peel is lovely and gentle, so it's ideal if you've never had a peel before or you're feeling a bit nervous. It works beautifully on normal, combination and oily skin, and it's perfect if your skin is looking a little uneven, feels rough or congested, or you're starting to notice the first signs of ageing.

It isn't recommended if your skin is very sensitive, prone to rosacea or broken, so before your first peel we'll have a chat about your skin, your skincare and your health and do a quick patch test to make sure it's right for you. If you want to check you'll be suitable first, you can message me and I'll help you.

What happens at your appointment

  • I'll cleanse and prep your skin.
  • The peel goes on and you'll feel a warm, tingly sensation for a few minutes.
  • I'll remove it, apply something soothing and finish with SPF.
  • The whole appointment takes about 45 minutes.

Most people go straight back to their day. Your skin might look a little pink for a few hours, and then you're left with that fresh, smooth feeling.

Looking after your skin afterwards

  • Wear SPF 30 or higher every day, even when it's cloudy.
  • Avoid scrubs, retinol and other exfoliating products for 7 days.
  • Skip saunas, steam rooms and hot workouts for 24 hours.
  • Keep your skin moisturised.
  • Your skin may feel a little dry or flake lightly for a few days. Try not to pick, let it do its thing!

Why I recommend booking two

One pumpkin peel gives you a lovely instant glow, but your results build when you have a short course. I recommend leaving 4 weeks between peels.

Until Saturday 31st October, when you book two pumpkin peels your second one is half price 🎃
